OUR BOYS WON OUR BOYS WON OUR BOYS WON OUR BOYS WON OUR BOYS WON!!!

I should have kissed you (preview)
I can hear the high pitched screams of the billion Directioners all over the world + Narnia. I’m right there with you, girls.
I love them, okay?
I like One Direction. There I said it. I am older than 4/5 of them, but I like them.
Now, I’m on Tumblr a lot (I’m not even going to deny it) and sometimes I scroll through the posts that are tagged with #onedirection. I came across a lot of photos of the boys, of course and a whole lot of fanfics (been there myself, girls) but I also come across some pretty nasty people who say some pretty nasty things about both One Direction, and their fandom, the Directioners. Words like pathetic, stupid, and even gay have popped up here and there. Why? What’s with the hate?
Seeing a group of Directioners go wild when they get to see their idols makes me smile. I was exactly like that with The Backstreet Boys and 5ive and N*SYNC (and later Daniel Radcliffe). But then I read all these incredibly nasty comments (usually from people who are older than the demographic of 12-18 years), and it annoys me. And some people go: One Direction is gay/Directioners or whatever are lame and pathetic/One Direction isn’t real music; The Beatles is real music! And especially with that last comment, I’m like: HOLD THE EFF UP. As I recall, over 40 years ago, all around the world, ginormous groups of girls screamed and fainted and swooned over a group of singing guys. Just like they do now. Am I making a comparison between The Beatles and One Direction? Dare I go there? Yes, I dare.
Look, I love The Beatles, okay? Honest to God, I really do. But, seriously, they started out as a pop band as well. They began with singing songs about girls. And loving girls. And dancing with girls. And being in love. And being young, wild and free. It was only after a while, after they got to develop themselves, when the “meaningful” (or whatever you want to call it) music came. And their audience grew up alongside them and got to enjoy new music. You’ll see that in ten years (let’s hope they make it that far), One Direction’s music is going to be totally different than Up All Night. Just give them a break.
In the end, music is of course entirely subjective and I do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I really feel like being negative about it and sending that negativity into the world is something we shouldn’t be doing. Let each other enjoy the music they enjoy and we can all get along fine, right?
So, dear sweet darling Directioners, keep screaming and fainting and drawing and fantasizing and writing fanfics (I sincerely enjoy reading some of those; reminds me of my 14 y/o self). Those are actually some of the things that make puberty bearable. And that actually goes for all the fandoms (Rushers, Beliebers, etc. etc.). You should be having a massive celebrity crush and expressing it in every way you possibly can. Chances are, you’ll eventually grow out of it… But if you don’t, hey, that’s fine too. But you know what? That point is far up ahead in the future. So in the meantime, let’s not care what all the mean people say. Let’s all ride our turtles from Narnia to the 1D concerts and eat carrots and stir our tea with forks, and have dinner at Nando’s every night and greet each other with “Vas’appnin’” (I still have no idea how to write that). It makes life that much more fun.

That Girl Directioner in Pink (I’m admitting it. Seriously, how could I still not really admit it after that whole string of Directioner inside jokes?)
“…doo doo doo doo, here comes the sun and I say, it’s all right”
You know how there’s always that one song that you always feel like listening to, no matter what mood you’re in? “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles is that song for me. And so I felt like the title to this song was the only right choice to put on my bedroom wall.
When I feel sad, it cheers me up. When I’m happy, it makes me twice as happy. I think out of all the songs on the Abbey Road album, this song is my absolute favorite. It reminds me of the fact that even though things can get really bad, it will always be all right in the end. No matter how long and cold the winter was, the sun will always come back out again.
and I was listening to Pumped Up Kicks, because I FINALLY had time to put Torches on my iPod. And I was dancing to it by myself, you know minding my own business. But then this person I have never seen before in my life came to stand next to me and she looked at me all like:
‘What are you doing?’

And I was just like:

What the hell? Why isn’t it ‘socially acceptable” that I dance by myself in public? Because it’s weird? YOU’RE weird. You don’t listen, let alone dance, to Foster the People. So there. And in the words of Mark Foster himself:
we’ve got nothing to prove
your social gods gave you swollen eyes
but what I got can’t be bought
so you can just
call it what you want
Words cannot describe how much I love this song.
Listening to my Beatles Let It Be vinyl record. This song, Across the Universe, is my favorite one from this album. And somehow, hearing this song on vinyl instead of digitally remastered… it sounds so different. Not just quality wise, but it just sounds so much more honest. I’m in love.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make
Beatles-fan and obsessed-by-pink Anlieka gave us this for her goodbye (but no farewell). A beautiful token of appreciation from someone who went through a lot during her time here, came out stronger and started flying (she even asked us to hose her down now and then because she kept catching fire ;-).
Thanks for your company, drive and love Anlieka, it was awesome to have you on the team!”
